David J. Scharlau, MBA
OVERVIEW

Dave joined Grass, Coffey & Scharlau CPA’s P.C. in 1992 as a manager and quickly demonstrated his expertise of auditing, tax, and the ability to provide the highest standard of service to clients. Obtaining his CPA license in 1977, Dave brought with him over 15 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, computerized accounting applications as well as knowledge of closely held corporations and individual income tax issues. In just six short years, Dave became a shareholder in 1998.

Over the course of Dave’s 38 years of experience, Dave has assisted clients with the formation and dissolution of their businesses (corporations, partnership, LLCs and sole owners), income tax planning and preparation, and estate planning for wealth protection and legacy strategies.

Dave’s aim is to provide the highest quality of service keeping the client’s objectives in mind.

As of January 1, 2024, Dave is retired.

EDUCATION

Dave graduated from the University of Illinois in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Dave furthered his education obtaining his MBA with distinction in 1992 from Keller Graduate School of Management.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

Dave and his wife, Kathy, live in Phoenix with their dog Rosie. Dave is an avid racquetball player, photographer, enjoys 4-wheeling, fishing, and listening to music when time permits.
